Beale Street - Memphis, Tennessee

BEALE STREET HISTORIC DISTRICT Downtown Memphis between 2nd & 4th St.  One of America's famous streets; where W.C. Handy gave birth to the blues.  Features restaurants, shows, shops, music, Handy statue in Handy Park.  Also W.C. Handy home.

Elvis was once asked what kind of music he played. “I play all kinds” was his response. That sums up what you’ll find in Memphis: all kinds of everything for all kinds of people. If you’re looking to experience the best of the South, this is the place. What is Southern? Come to Memphis and we’ll show you. It’s incredible food, from sizzling barbecue (wet or dry) to greens and cornbread to pot likker to fresh cobbler. It’s blooming azaleas in the spring and sweet accents all year-round. It’s friendly people. Mississippi River sunsets. It’s entire industries being born with Holiday Inns and FedEx, not to mention the first drive-in restaurant, the first self-service grocery, and the birthplace of rock ‘n roll. It’s also music, born in the cotton fields and in the back alleys. There’s Historic Beale Street, home to 25 shops and clubs and free impromptu entertainment on every corner. Ranking second only to Bourbon Street as the nation’s most popular entertainment district, Beale Street is energetic and eclectic. B.B. King’s, Rum Boogie’s and the Hard Rock Café pack in visitors nightly.

Tunica is the third largest gaming destination.  If you are planning a trip to the Tunica area, this is the site to visit. Tunica is a pleasant 20 mile drive south of Memphis, TN. The Mississippi River flows along the county's western boundary, and the landscape is dominated by rich Delta farmland with an occasional wooded bluff.

Today, Tunica County is the third largest gaming market in the nation with 9 world-class casinos featuring 24-hour gaming plus all the amenities of modern full-service vacation resorts. And since casino gaming was only legalized in Mississippi since 1990, all of the facilities are quite new, luxurious, and beautifully well-kept.

Tunica has two areas where multiple casinos are clustered within walking distance of each other: Casino Center is home to the Gold Strike Casino, Horseshoe, and Sheraton Tunica; while at the Casino Strip you will find Harrah's, Hollywood, Sam's Town, and  Grand Casino Tunica, Fitzgerald's, and Bally's are each located a short drive from the main clusters.
